With a bachelor’s degree in engineering after graduating from the University of Maryland in 2015 and seven years of General Contractor work, professional cleaning, and DIY enthusiasm under my belt, I saw the need for a reliable information source for homeowners. Specifically, people facing home improvement challenges on a daily basis. This led to the creation of MySpaceAffair.com, where my passion, diligence, experience, as well as hired professionals, adds to the reliability of the advice provided in My Space Affair. I hope to provide trusted guidance in cleaning, organization, and home enhancement just for YOU!
More About Me:
I am originally from Nairobi, Kenya, and lived there most of my life. I developed a passion for home improvement during my high school years, where I studied industrial arts and sciences. It was through hands-on experience, constantly fixing things around my own house and engaging in various cleaning tasks, that I became inspired by the world of home improvement. Whenever something broke or required cleaning, I would eagerly research and educate myself on how to tackle the issue. From a young age, I aspired to become a general contractor, drawing motivation from the transformative nature of home renovation.
In pursuit of my dreams, I made the decision to move to the United States in 2011 after being accepted into the University of Maryland. Throughout my college years, I balanced my studies with part-time work in the construction and cleaning industry, seeking to gain practical experience alongside my academic endeavors. Following the completion of my bachelor’s degree in engineering in 2015, I continued to work in various construction-related roles and cleaning roles (Janitor). The construction-related role was a two-year internship with a construction management company. In this period, I was able to further refine my skills in cleaning and home improvement to acquire the necessary experience required to become a general contractor.
In late 2017, I traveled to Florida to obtain my licensing and registration as a general contractor. After successfully passing a trade exam and providing evidence of my relevant work experience, education, general liability, and financial stability, my business was approved for general contractor work. The day I officially became a general contractor remains one of the most significant moments in my life. It solidified my commitment to providing valuable information and professional guidance through this blog, My Space Affair, ensuring that readers can trust in the reliability and expertise derived from my professional experience and enthusiasm.
